ALMOST A PERFECT MOMENT

Picture yourself walking along this shore...

Feel the warming sun on your skin...
Feel the refreshing water under your feet ...
Feel the soft sand step by step ...
Hear the splash sound of the light waves...
Feel when it splashes onto your feet...

That´s a very good moment!
Not perfect, because perfect exists only in words or concept...
Life is not perfect, nobody is perfect, nothing is perfect...
Life is nothing special.
Just a temporary phenomenum.
So enjoy every moment and pay attention! Focus!

MOST COMMON IRREGULAR VERBS

BASIC LEVEL LIST

Memorise the following verbs in the past affirmative form (column 2), in the infinitive form (column 1) and in the past participle (column 3)

The first column is the present tense in affirmative form for the subjects I, you, we and they. It is also used to form the interrogative form in the past together with the auxiliar verb "did".

To form the negative in the past add "didn´t" as in the example below:

I understood = entendi (column 1)
I didn´t understand = não entendi (didn´t + column 1)
Did you understand? = Você entendeu? (did + subject + column 1 verb)

You can also use the subject (sujeito) + auxiliar verb "will" + verb in column 1 to form the future tense. Example: She will understand = ela compreenderá

Another auxiliar verb to talk about future actions is "be going to". Example: He is going to buy a motorcycle = ele vai comprar uma motocicleta.

The verbs in the 3rd column are used in the Present Perfect Tense and in the Passive form.

Obs. Se você já terminou o curso básico de inglês, é muito provável que você já sabe essa tabela decor

If you know that list by heart, congratulations!

PREPOSITION "TO" FOR PURPOSE

USING "TO" FOR PURPOSE

The preposition "to" is used to show intention. Examples:

I went to the bank to pay a bill.
She called me to invite me to a party.

Notice that the second "to" in the second example above is used to show direction or destination.

Now pay attention to the following examples below:

Where´s the key to my car?
I can´t remember the number to my savings account.

Those are confusing for Brazilian students because in Portuguese we would use "of" instead of "to":

chave do carro = key to the car
número da conta = number to the account

The confusion stems from the fact that the translation to Portuguese for "to" is usually "para"  and for "of" is "de"

But have in mind that the purpose of the key is to open the car. And you need the number to use (make a deposit or withdrawal or transfer) the savings account
